Sharing Outlook folders with Softalk Share Server

Softalk Share Server can share both personal and public folders in Microsoft Outlook. However, there are three different ways to configure Softalk Share Server, depending upon what level of folder sharing you require:

Primary Store
This is the standard configuration for Softalk Share Server. When configured as a primary store, Softalk Share Server replaces your current PST or Exchange store as the default store and optionally migrates your data into the Softalk Share Server store.

Your folders in Outlook will look exactly as they did before, however all information will now be stored centrally in the Softalk Share Server store database. Personal folders for each user will be listed in the Softalk Share Server administrator, allowing an administrator to provide access to these folders for other users. Mail that you receive will be stored in your Softalk Share Server store. You will also have access to any public folders that an administrator creates and grants you access to.

Secondary Store
When configured as a secondary store, Softalk Share Server will not replace your existing PST or Exchange store, but will instead provide an additional store where you can create non-default personal folders.

Email that you receive will continue to be received into your existing default folders, but only the folders in your secondary store may be shared with other users. You will also have access to any public folders that an administrator creates and grants you access to.

Public folders only
When configured for public folder access only, Softalk Share Server will not replace your existing PST or Exchange store, however an additional store will be created showing only any public folders that you have been granted access to.

Email that you receive will continue to be received into your existing default folders, but you will not be able to share your personal folders with other users.

Folder types
Softalk Share Server can share all types of personal folders, including calendar, tasks, contact, email, journal and notes folders. Furthermore, public folders of any type may also be created and shared.
