Displaying Shared Personal Folders

By default, when you have been granted access to another user’s folder, the name of their folder is appended with the initials of the user. This makes it easy to identify other users’ folders when you are not using the Folder List view, for example when using the Calendar shortcut view.

Appending the user’s initials makes it possible for instance to show several users’ calendars side by side.

A user can change how the shared personal folders are displayed by selecting Tools | Options in Outlook and choosing the Folder Style page.

This page lets you choose from a variety of different folder owner formats. For example, you may display a folder by showing the folder name followed by the full name of the user, or followed by the user’s first name or just the initials. Alternatively, you could show the user’s name first, followed by the folder name. You may also choose to show just the folder name with no user name appended or prefixed. You would most likely do this if you always work in the Folder List view where you can see a user’s folders under a folder named after that user.

There is also a Custom option which lets you configure your own format for displaying shared personal folders. When you select the Custom radio button, you may enter a format string into the adjacent field. You can enter anything into this field, but you should include one or more of the following replacement fields:
