Adding Users in bulk

If you have many users in your organization it will be more practical to add users to Softalk Share Server by extracting them from the active directory and then remotely installing the client software in bulk using the Remote Client Setup utility.

To add one or more users from the active directory, open the administrator program (Start | Programs | Softalk Share Server | Softalk Share Server Administrator) and select Edit | Add Active Directory Users and Groups.

The standard Active Directory Select Users or Groups dialog box is displayed. You can type one or more users into the field and press Check Names to resolve them. Alternatively, press the Advanced button and choose the users by searching for them using the Select Users of Groups search window.

If you want to add all the users belonging to an active directory group, then press the Object Types button and tick the Groups tick box.

Then press OK and enter a group name into the field, for example Domain Users. When you press OK, all the members of the group will be added to the Administrator, each one configured as authenticating via the Active Directory. A group object will also be added to the Softalk Share Server Administrator program.
