Outlook 2007 runs slow

Hi All,Having an issue where Outlook 2007 runs very slow on start-up and when syncing IMAP email. Here is the necessary information:Softalk Share Server:Windows 2003 Standard SP2Softalk Share Server ver. 1.35 (build 481)Database size is 480 MegsSeparate IMAP server in house. All computers are utilizing a gigabit network connection.We are using Softalk to share calendars and contacts. Originally we were also utilizing the software to store the local data store on the server (but have since moved that off the server).When starting Outlook, it can take up to five (5) minutes for Outlook to sync the .OST file with the IMAP server. I have removed the client software from a test machine and the sync time drops down to roughly 45 seconds.Has anyone run into this issue?Thanks in advance for any help.John

Cleaning up files

I have moved all our e-mail serves to G-Mail just to ensure we do not lose anything and to help speed up operations on our server (G-mail does better SPAM support too). I just looked into the directory where SSS lives and there are lots of folders with email and data files and I want to know if there is a way to clean up the unneeded files.

Moving location of Share Server Data

I have a server that is getting a full C: drive and would like to move the location of the Share Server data to a larger drive. I see in the admin console where the data is located but don't see any way to change it. Any ideas or is this even possible?Thanks! Bryan

Print issue from Outlook 2007

Outlook 2007 crashes when printing. This is exactly what happens when KB972363 is installed. However this update is not installed and the problem only started occurring today commencing with one PC and now speeding to 3 PCs. Does anyone know if KB972363 has been including in another update / rollup / service pack?Thanks in advance....

Problem using autoarchive in Outlook with Softalk Share Server

Since the size of our SoftalkBusinessServer.mdf file is approaching 4 Gb (we use SQL Express), I am trying to move messages from our Softalk Share Server database to an Outlook .pst file using the autoarchive feature in Outlook.I have set all e-mails which are older than 36 months to be moved to the archive file, however after running autoarchive in Outlook I notice that all folders have been created, but there aren't any e-mails in the folders.I am 100% sure that in the Softalk Share Server database there are e-mails which are older than 36 months, so I do not understand why the folders in the Outlook archive remain empty? We use Outlook version 2003, maybe that's the issue?Hope anyone can help me with this?With kind regards,Olivier

Body of email missing

Running Softalk Share Server on a Windows SBS 2003, SQL Express without exchange server. Client Running Windows XP Pro SP3 and Outlook 2003 SP3.Database integrity check shows no errors.Starting with emails in May 2008 and older that this user has in his inbox the body of the email is missing. The header, to and from fields and date are there. Attachments are still there some work and some can't find the attachment but the text in the body of the email is missing.Any ideas?Thanks

Whats the best procedure for updating Outlook from 2003 to 2007 with SSS.can you just install 2007 over the top of 2003 or is it better to remove SSS client addon first? I also have a client with outlook 2000 that needs to be updated as well.

Having Difficulty with Automated Backups

I have Softalk Share Server 1.3.5 installed on a clean 32bit XP Pro machine with SP3. It is installed as a Service. I have four users accessing shared public mail and calendar folders.Everything works fine except for the backups. I have them scheduled to run a full backup weekly and an incremental backup daily but it never runs. Backups work fine when I do them manually.With other backup software, I often have to run schedule tasks as a user with a username and password but I don't see that option in SSS. What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I use Share Server with MS-SQL Server 2005 Express, SoftalkBusinessServer.mdf has exceeded the 4 GB, i tried to shrink the file but I haven't solved the problem, SoftalkBusinessServer.mdf is always larger than 4 GB. How do I fix the problem?

It's possible to use PCS (Personal Contact Synchronization) with Share Server.Configure PCS to replicate your shared contact to you personal contact normally.Close Outlook.Now open the file pcs.xml stored in the root of you disk. In this file you can read the path of your share folder in this format:{Folders}{Folder}S\Share Contact{/Folder}{/Folders}I have replaced the <> symbols with {} to compatibility with this forumReplace [b]S\[/b] with you right server name and user in this format:[b]SERVER [user]\[/b]where [b]SERVER[/b] is the [b]server name[/b] and [b]user[/b] is you[b] user name[/b].Save the file. I have 10 users using softalk shareserver. The main shared calendar and some (50%) of users can not see appointments in the Day/Week/Month view. The other 50% are working normally. The affected users can see them in the "All Appointments" view only. Any suggestions?

I am having a number of issues and I am hoping I can get some resolutions to them thru this forum.Software as below: All machines are Windows XP SP3-MS Ooutlook 2007 w/ SP2 installed. - 2 Office addons: Classic Menu for Office 2007. Brother P-touch 5 addin-Softalk ShareServer 1.3.5 (build 481) -SQLEXPRESS Server install1) Issue 1-KB972363 and e-mail issue. I uninstall the patch and it keeps re-installing it. Is there a way to disable it forever.2) We use IMAP to gmail for our e-mail. Switching from calendar to e-mail and back takes a long time.3) Sometime the task list beside the calendar will not show. It shows as unable to connected at this time.4) Mail notify icon doesn't show by clock.I'll check back and update as I work thru some of these problems.

Outlook 07 SP2 crashes randomly when printing email content.

Using 3 computers all running XP SP3 to server running XP SP3. Using latest SSS Server & client. All 3 terminals recently updated to Outlook SP2 and since then we receive random crashes during printing email content. ( not attachments). I have checked the hardware on all machines and the memory is fine. Event log error is as follows.Recently updated Outlook 2007 from SP1 to SP2 and since then randomly Outlook will crash and restart when trying to print email content ( not attachments).. Share Server client calendar problem

Hello togetherI have a really difficult problem with one of our Softalt Share Server clients.The Share Server is Version 1.3.5 481 with 10 clients connected. Some of themwork with VPN, others are in the same LAN network as the Serer.Each client has a local Store with contacts and a calendar and the users sometimescopy elements (contacts / events) from their local calendar to the server hostedcalendar. Since a week one client cannot copy the elements anymore, each time i tryto copy a local event to the Server the message "Error opening server store - failed to connect"appears. When i then close and reopen Outlook (Version 2007 / SP2) the event has beencopied altough i had the error message. When i create an event directly on the Server store andthen copy it to the local one, there is no error. only when i do it the other way.I tried to repair the local PST's bit they are not damaged, i tried also a repair installation of office,another Server Port, remove and new installation of the Softalk client, database check on the serverbut without success.Has anyone ever seen something like that? The Problem is just at one client and i cannot resolve it.Very strange. Thanks in advance for every hint.

I took my laptop 'offline' last wed, and since returning to the office, I can't seem to go back 'online'?The synchronize box appears briefly then dissapears.The only thing that has changed since I last successfully went offline is that I have upgraded to office 2007 (from 2003), and we now use mcafee anti virus rather than vet.Can you help?Thanks, Maurice

Folder Style / Contact Folder Naming Issues

How can I change the folder style / naming so it doesn't contain the name of the server in the folder name? For example, I have a public contacts folder named Shared Contacts.The machine it is located on is called cutter.In the contacts list view the folder is named:"Shared Contacts in CUTTER [my.username]"Which is ridiculously long and annoying. I would like the folder to be represented as just as "Shared Contacts"Any changes I make to the Folder Style tab doesn't seem to affect the name of the Contacts folders. Help!

migrating to synchronization with server - performance issue

I have been using SSS for a while now.Recently, the inbox and a couple of other folders have become huge and the computer has slowed down. I want to speed it up and want to setup a synchronizing between the client and server (hoping that will solve my problem). Here is my situation...ONLY the server has the data (10-20GB). What steps do I need to take to:A. get a copy of the data to the client as a local store without losing dataB. setup synchronizing to see if that will improve performanceC. Make sure that when changes are made - they are seen INSTANTLY (within a couple of seconds), NOT after a sync.

We have been successfully using the remote client to access calendars across the internet.I know I can get SSS to sync via outlook on a remote pc, which can then sync with a mobile device, but i'd like mobile devices to sync directly via the device' web connection (maybe using a symbian/android/WM/ovi versin of the remote client).Is this posible?ThanksJody

Active Directry login fails

After we upgraded to SSS 135, Active Directory login does not work anymore. Existing users work fine, but if we try to upgrade or install clients from ClientSetup, we end up with a message saying "The password you entered is incorrect". I have tried to unassociate/associate user, as well as remove them and add again from AD.The non-AD login works, but that is not the way we want to do it. Any help is appreciated.Vidar

I have installed softtalk share server 1.0.9 on a windows vista business edition pc. On the client I am having outlook 2003 and I have set the softtalk as a secondary store.

I am having a pop-up whenever I set a appointment with reminder
The reminder for "meeting" will not appear because the item is not in your calendar or tasks folder.

How can I set the reminders for appointments ?

Clearing disk space on the server

I am trying to clear up disk space on my Windows 2003 SP 2 server that is hosting SSS vs. 1.3.2 build 438 using SQL Server Express. I deleted 4 users from SSS administrator who were taking up about 2 GB of space. I have also had several user archive data to a local pst file yet the space taken up by the RefData folder does not get smaller after these actions. There must be some way to reclaim this space but I can't figure it out.

Any help appreciated
